Rhythms & Romance

For five years, Avissh hosted Rhythms & Romance — his Valentine’s night in Los Angeles: a 1.5-hour beginner salsa and bachata lesson with wine and chocolate. It sold out every year, and it is the evening our Date Night Special is built on.

Who he has taught

Hundreds of students — first-timers, couples, wedding parties and returning dancers. In LA he has taught film and TV industry clients, including directors and writers from major productions.

How I teach

I start with how you already move. Most people who tell me they have two left feet are holding their breath and watching the floor. We fix posture and timing first, and the steps get easier on their own.

I teach in small pieces and put them to music early. Every lesson ends with you dancing a whole song, because the goal isn’t memorizing a pattern — it’s hearing the music and enjoying your partner.

Ballroom taught me structure; Latin dance taught me play. With couples, and especially with a first dance, I keep what flatters you, drop what doesn’t, and make sure you feel comfortable long before anyone is watching.
